Preserving the History and Heritage of Walton County, Florida

Next Exit History

Saturday, February 13

2:00 PM at the Museum

Walton County historic locations off Interstate 10 will be noted during a “Next Exit History” program hosted by the Walton County Heritage Museum and the Walton County Heritage Association. University of West Florida (UWF) history professors Dr. Jay Clune and Dr. Patrick Moore will present the project.

Jennifer Adkins, also with the UWF faculty, said this project “gathers site-specific, scholarly content on historic communities and delivers it to GPS and non-GPS aware devices. Participants will be shown how to download” the information. For "Next Exit History" projects to date, see NextExitHistory.org. Public comment is welcome and citizens are encouraged to share historic site information. Admission is free.

Dr. Clune is the UWF History Department Chair and recently published Historic Pensacola, commemorating Pensacola’s 450th anniversary celebration. Dr. Moore is the UWF Public History Program Director; one of his many specialties is heritage tourism.
