Alice Faye Wood

Alice Faye Wood, 57, of Gaskin, FL, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 19, 2006 at her residence. She was born Aug. 26, 1949 in DeFuniak Springs, FL, to Fate and Blondell Neese Prater.

Wood had lived most of her life in Walton County. She was Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Liberty. She worked in the Propane Gas Industry for thirty-five years, she was presently [employed] by Frank and Alisa Wilks of Chancellor, AL. She enjoyed working in the garden and growing flowers. She also enjoyed cooking meals for family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Wood was predeceased by her father and mother; one grandson, Jeremy Wood; one sister, Mavis Llewellyn; six brothers, Alvin Prater, Cecil Prater, Pete Prater, Lewis Prater, Roy Prater, and Waldo Prater.

Wood is survived by her husband, James Wood of Gaskin; four sons, Jimmy Wood and wife, Christina Wood, of Phenix City, AL, Greg Wood and wife, Pam, of Freeport, Jerry Wood and wife, Robin, of Opelika, AL, and Gary Wood and wife, Ann, of Opelika, AL; four brothers, L.S. Prater, of DeFuniak Springs, Clarence Prater and wife, Laura, of Milton, FL, Toby Prater and wife, Karen, of Glendale, and Thomas Lamar Prater and wife, Sherry, of DeFuniak Springs; five sisters, Lillian Branch, of Ft. Meade, FL, Shirley Jordan and husband, Willard, of Tampa, Dorothy Glass Palmer, of DeFuniak
Springs, Dianne Anderson and husband, Hershel, of Asheville, and Brenda Hall and husband, Rick, of DeFuniak Springs; seven grandchildren, Madison, Abbey, Zackary, Allison, Hannah Grace, Karli, and Maggie. Also survived by her dog, “Peanut”.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Revs. Glen Spence and Joel Glenn officiating.

Burial followed in Limestone Cemetery.
