Alma Irene Jordan Alford

Mrs. Alma Irene Jordan Alford, age 88, of Ponce De Leon, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. She was born February 11, 1920 in Franklin County, Georgia to Sam and Vera Berryman Jordan.

She was a resident of the Bridge Creek Community most of her life and a member of Bridge Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Alford enjoyed cooking, gardening, and caring for family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Her family and friends feel truly blessed to have been a part of the life of such a wonderful person.

Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Vera Jordan of Melrose, Florida, her husband of 65 years, Lowery L. Doc Alford, two sons, Clyde A. Alford and Alvin E. Alford, one daughter-in-law Mary Alford, three brothers, John W. Jordan, Roy L. Jordan, and Clifford W. Jordan, and two sisters, Willie M. Jordan and Lucille Jordan Foucart.

She is survived by one daughter, Edwina Alford Hammond and husband Emory of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, one brother, Rufus P. Jordan and wife Celia of Melrose, Florida, and one sister Lois Peterson and husband Dwight of Palatka, Florida, one daughter-in-law, Jonice Arban and husband Bob of Ponce De Leon, Florida, eight grandchildren, Bill Hammond and wife Sheila of Leslie, Georgia, Carol Richardson and husband Steve, Bob Hammond and wife Tanya, all of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Tony Alford and wife Carol, Tim Alford and wife Pam, all of Ponce DE Leon, Florida, Lelia Dodson and husband Scott of Panama City, Florida, Josh Arban and wife Jodi of Westville, Florida, and Luke Arban and wife Rebecca of Freeport, Florida, one special niece, Betty Grainger of Panama City, Florida, 14 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

A time of visitation services will be held from 6:00~8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Reverends Gary Scott and Joel Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Alford’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
