Bernard Francis Milota

Bernard Francis “Bernie” Milota, 78, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away at the family residence, Thursday, June 29, 2006. He was born Oct. 4, 1927 in Cleveland, OH, the son of Frank Anthony Milota and Catherine Loretta Klenotic Milota. Bernie was a veteran having served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force in World War II and during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the Catholic Order of Foresters and retired as High Chief Ranger Emeritus.

He was Roman Catholic by faith, and a member of Saint Margaret Catholic Church.

Milota is predeceased by his sister, Loretta Dulik, and a son, David Alan Milota.

Among survivors are his wife, Dolores Milota; daughter, Therese Ann Ortiz and husband, Carmelo, of Lakewood, OH; granddaughters, Megan Born and Sara Ortiz, both of Lakewood; brother, Frank Milota and wife, Connie, of Parma, OH; a sister, Joan Vinesky, of Garfield, OH; sisters-in-law Betty Ann Leopold and husband, Gordon, of DeFuniak Springs and Frances Sabin and husband, Theodore, of [Potomac], MD. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In [lieu] of flowers memorials may be made in Mr. Milota’s memory to Covenant Hospice, 37O West Redstone Drive, Crestview, FL 32536.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 3, 2006 at Saint Margaret Catholic Church in DeFuniak Springs with Father Rick Dawson celebrant and Father Roy Marien concelebrant.
