Bruce Allen Bates, 38, passed away May 12, 2006 at his residence in Freeport. He was born May 22, 1967 in Detroit, MI to Bruce and Dorothy Kendrick Bates.
Bates had been a resident of Freeport most of his life. He was Baptist by faith. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1985 where he lettered in varsity football and basketball. He worked as a carpenter in construction. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.
Bates was predeceased by one sister, Felicia Bates.
Bates is survived by his father and mother, Bruce and Dorothy Bates, of Freeport; and three sons, B. A. Bates and C. J. Bates, both of Freeport, and Jesse A. Bates of Shalimar.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. David Isaac officiating.
Burial followed in the Hatcher Cemetery.
