Carol Ann McCormick

Mrs. Carol Ann McCormick, age 71, of Freeport, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 27, 2007. She was surrounded by members of her loving family. She was born on July 23, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Velma and Joseph Taylor.

On any given morning Carol could be found sitting on her front porch enjoying her garden where a multitude of squirrels would join her for their morning meal. She loved animals, especially the ones that found their way into her yard. She also enjoyed puzzles, collecting recipes and above all reading. She could devour a good book in no time. Her greatest love was her family and she enjoyed every moment that she spent with them and they enjoyed her. Carol never met a stranger. Her kind smile and warm personality endeared her to all. Her grandchildren loved listening to her tell stories about her childhood and growing up in Philadelphia. Anyone that stopped by the house to chat with her would readily admit that she was an absolute joy to be around.

Carol is survived by her husband of 43 years, James (Friday) McCormick and 6 children; James (Tater) McCormick Jr. of Freeport; Sheila McCormick of Bonaire, Georgia; Lovie Hall and her husband Joe, of Okinawa, Japan; Mike Wallen and his wife Cathy, of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania; Karen and Kevin Kennedy of Guysville, Ohio. She is also survived by 2 brothers; Jerry Taylor of Bowie, Maryland and Dennis Taylor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor her wishes, Carol’s remains will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 6:00 PM, Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; 150 East Highway 20, Freeport, Florida 32439, with Reverend Louis Taunton officiating. A special thanks to Jane and George at Covenant Hospice for helping us take care of Mom at home, where she wanted to be.
