Devan Dockery

Mr. Devan Dockery, age 51, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Monday, August 13, 2007, in Crestview with his family by his side. He was born December 18, 1955 in Flint, Michigan to his father and mother, Denzel (Doc) and Ruth Carlson Dockery.

Devan was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, he was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty. He was a very successful inventor, having invented the Remote Extender, which transfers infrared signals to Radio Frenquency and is currently being used in remote components. He also owned and operated Indy Street Car, LLC., manufacturing Indy cars. Devan was also an avid car and gun collector. He enjoyed NASCAR, traveling and displaying his Indy cars at car shows nationwide and locally. He was also a licensed pilot, as well as a certified SCUBA Diver.

Devan is survived by his father and mother, Doc and Ruth Dockery of Vortex Springs, Ponce De Leon, Florida; his wife, Dawn Newsom Dockery; three sons, Jeremy Dockery and wife Renee, Ryan Dockery and Miles Dockery and wife Jennifer; one daughter, Carrie Cuchens and husband Kennie and one step-daughter, Rachael Newsom all of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; one twin brother Daryl Dockery and wife Angela of Ponce De Leon, Florida and one sister, Connie Taylor and husband Danny of Argyle, Florida. Devan is also survived by four grandchildren, Jackson, Julianna, Mehgen and Aiden and two step-grandaughters, Shayla and Kristen. Also survived by many other loving friends and family.

A time of visitation will be held at 6:00~8:00 PM, Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 17, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, with Reverend Joel Glenn officiating. Those ask to serve as pallbearers are as follows Larry Williamson, Truett Thomas, Joe VanWagner, Danny Price, Bill Benham, Paul Teelin and Bill Corcoran. Floral arrangements are being accepted. Memorialization will be held by cremation with Clary-Glenn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
