Doris B. Harper

Doris B. Harper, 71, of Destin passed away Dec. 1, 2006 in Destin, FL. She was born Feb.12, 1935 in North Haven, CT to John and Francis Bjornberg.

Harper had been a resident of Destin since 1987 She was Episcopalian by faith. She was a special education school teacher at Southbury Training School in Southbury, Connecticut. She was a member of the Junior League in Shreveport, LA, volunteering to help the mentally handicapped. She also did volunteer work in Woodstock, Connecticut as a Children’s Advocate. She was a generous Patron and volunteer to many different charities.

Harper was predeceased in death by her father and mother and one brother Eric Bjornberg.

Harper is survived by her husband, Hamilton “Hank” D. Harper, Jr. of Destin, FL; two sons, Hamilton D. Harper III of Sandestin, FL and Dean Todd Harper of Destin; two daughters, Elizabeth H. Wright and husband, Peter and Kristine H. Harper, all of Destin; four brothers, Phillip, Donald, Roger and Dana Bjornberg; four sisters, Marilyn Bullis, Carole Coleman, Lynda Geary and Ana Kristine Bjornberg; three grandchildren, Peter William Wright, Jr, William Harper Wright, and Amy Elizabeth Wright.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at Christ The King Episcopalian Church; 480 North County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32439, with Father Frank Cooper officiating.

Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

Memorialization was by cremation.
