Fred Thomas Kirkland

Fred Thomas Kirkland, 80, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away Dec. 5, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 28, 1926 in Telico Plains, TN to Charles and
Clara Veal Kirkland.

Kirkland had been a resident of DeFuniak Springs for the past 10 years. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Southwide Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of the Armed Forces serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an instrument mechanic with St. Regis Paper Company for over 28 years before retiring. He enjoyed serving the Lord Jesus Christ and attending church services.

Kirkland was predeceased by his father and mother; four sisters, Bessie Thurman, Laura Bell, Mae Hicks, and Gracie Baumgardner.

Kirkland is survived by his wife of 27 years, Betty Flynn Kirkland, of DeFuniak Springs; one daughter, Bobbie Livingston and husband, Tommy, of Pensacola, FL; one stepson, Glen Flynn and wife, Terry, of Middleburg, FL; one stepdaughter, Louise Flynn Beckwith, of Martinsburg, WV; one brother, J.B. Kirkland and wife, Betty, of Elizabeth City, NC; one grandson, Ron Livingston and wife, Carla; six step-grandchildren, Alisha Butler and husband, Joe, Kevin Flynn, Kristy Lightbody and husband, Thomas, Brian Beckwith and wife, Jen, and Erin Beckwith and Courtney Flynn; three great- grandchildren, Alex, Zachary, and Cole; five step-great grandchildren, Joe, Sarah, Patrick , Madison, and Kylie.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Bob Greene officiating and eulogy by Doug Burke.

Burial followed in Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
