Harvey B. Coffey, 76, of New Harmony Community passed away June 10, at North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, FL. He was born Aug. 19, 1929 in Santa Rosa County, FL, to Will and Irene Coffey.
Coffey had been a resident of Walton County since 1965. He was Assembly of God by faith and faithfully attended Liberty Assembly of God Church for many years. He worked as a carpenter and also owned and operated Coffey’s Grocery Store in the New Harmony community for seven years. He also worked in the well drilling business for over 30 years.
He loved people and was well known by most everyone in Walton County, having helped numerous individuals with their well. He was known as being a family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Coffey was predeceased by his parents, Will and Irene Coffey, of Jay, FL; three brothers, Rayford Coffey and Lloyd Coffey, both of Jay, and Marvin Coffey of Pace, FL; one sister, Florence Graham, also of Pace, and infant granddaughter, Kimberly Joyce Russell, of Paxton, FL.
Coffey is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ouida Davidson Coffey; two sisters, Doris Davidson, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Muriel Myers of Jay, FL; two daughters, Carrol Shaw and husband, Johnnie, Joyce Farmer and husband, Wade; three sons, Doyle, Kenneth and Gregory Coffey, all of Walton County; grandchildren, Ronald Shaw and wife, Tina, Daniel Shaw and wife, Della, Kevin Russell and wife, Tori, Kelby Russell, Jessica Lloyd and husband, Billy, Michael Coffey and wife, Beth, Shelia Lee, and husband, Chris, Paul Coffey and Dylan Coffey; great-grandchildren, Travis and Hannah Shaw, Candance and Monica Carter, Chloe Russell, Michael and Austin Carter, Montana and Keegan Lloyd, Brandon and Breanna Lee, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Revs. Jeff Cain and James Copeland officiating.
Those asked [to] serve as pallbearers were the grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Hulion, Hansel Geohagan, Mike Howard, Mike Fleming, Darby Laird, Roy Arnold, James Coffield and Coy Bell.
Burial followed in the Clear Springs Community Cemetery.
