Hudie Bell

Hudie Bell, 88, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006. He was born on April 23, 1918 in DeFuniak Springs, FL to Robert and
Laura Bell. He was a World War II veteran, serving his country in the United States Navy. He retired in 1973 from being a rural letter carrier in the Green Cove Springs and Penney Farms area, delivering on RR# 2.

Bell was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and a former member of the Green Cove Springs Elk’s Lodge # 1892.

He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans and was of the Methodist faith.

Bell’s first duty station for the Navy was Green Cove Springs and that was when he met his beloved wife, Pearl J. Bell, who preceded him in death in 1999.

Survivors include his daughters, Janice Garmon (Don) of Lawrenceville, GA and Patricia Gilliard (Ray) of Green Cove Springs, FL; grandchildren, Rhonda Spell, Deborah Sitler, Michael Hall, and J.R. McNeal; great-grandchildren, Katherine Oberteuffer, Dixie Spell, Joshua Spell, Nichayla Hall, Michael Hall, Jr., Mackenzie Hall, Tyler McNeal, Kristin McNeal, and Devyn Sitler, and great-great-grandchild, Shyanne Spell.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 in the Chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs. Interment with military honors followed in Black Creek Cemetery.
