Mr. Hugh Gomillion, age 80, of Bruce, Florida passed away October 31, 2007. He was born March 5, 1927 in Red Bay, Florida to Barzillia and Elizabeth Ward Gomillion.
Mr. Gomillion was a lifelong resident of Walton County and was Methodist by faith and a member of the Bruce United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Army. He worked as a Foreman with Louisiana Pacific. He loved to fish, working in the yard and gardening, he was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F& AM# 157 in Ponce De Leon, Florida
Mr. Gomillion was preceded in death by his father and mother and stepmother, Adie Gomillion, two brothers Ward Gomillion and Robert Blackington.
Mr. Gomillion is survived by his son Earl Hugh Gomillion and wife Michelle of Panama City, Florida; three daughters Nadean Burke and husband Doyce of Bruce, Florida, Geraldean Fannin and husband Roger of Freeport, Florida and Darlene Faison of Ebro, Florida; two brothers Edwin Gomillion of Red Bay, Florida and Yubadon Gommilion of Mississippi; three sisters Nannie Jayce Allen of Freeport, Florida, Gail Rook of Ponce De Leon, Florida and Wilma Jean Anderson of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also survived by special friend Edwina Burke of Bruce, Florida and by the mother of his children Adean Gomillion of Bruce, Florida.
A time of visitation will be held 6:00~8:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; 150 East Highway 20 Freeport, Florida 32439. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the Bruce United Methodist Church with Reverends Bill Young and Mike McVay officiating. Pallbearers are Derek Fannin, Earl Gomillion, Robby Shelley, Ricky Fannin, Arthur Gomillion and Kevin Lee. Burial will follow in the Ebro Cemetery. Floral arrangements are being accepted.
