Mr. James Howard Griggs, age 79, of Ponce De Leon, Florida passed away December 25, 2007 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was born May 13, 1928 in Opp, Alabama to William and Mary Stewart Griggs.
Mr. Griggs was a resident of Walton County, he was Protestant by faith and a member of the Beach Grove Church of God. He was known as Preacher Griggs and worked as an electrician having retired from Florida Transformers. He loved fishing, riding horses, and traveling to the mountains.
Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by his father and mother, and six brothers, one Infant brother, Dalton Griggs, William Griggs, Johnny Griggs, W.C. Griggs and Raymond Griggs.
Mr. Griggs is survived by his wife Evelyn Griggs of Ponce De Leon, Florida; two sons, Rex Griggs and wife Connie of Ellaville, Georgia; James L. Griggs and wife Cheryl of Augusta, Georgia; two daughters, Charlotte Crapeau and husband Jim of Navarre, Florida; Darlene Muratore of Marrietta, Georgia and one sister, Pauline Ward of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at 6:00~8:00 PM, Friday , December 28, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Watkins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Red Bay Cemetery with military honors.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are as follows Dennis Ward, Brandon Stevens, DeWayne Lowe, Mark Griggs, Matthew Griggs and Jim Crapeau.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
