Kenneth Gillis, 84, of the Argyle Community, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2006. He was born November 20, 1921 in Ponce de Leon, and was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He was in the U.S. Army having served during WWII, and retired from Civil Service at Eglin Air Force Base working in base supply. Gillis was a member of Argyle Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Eloise Gillis; four children, Roger (Kathy) Gillis of Panama City, FL, Nancy Jones of Kissimmee, FL, Barbara (Ronald) Hopek of LaGrange, GA and Melvin (Myra) Gillis of Clarksville, TN; a brother, C.L. Gillis of Argyle, FL; a sister, Bessie King of Baker, FL; a sister-in-law, Fay Gillis of Dickinson, TX; five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 8 at Argyle Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Euchee Valley Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
