Death of Respected Citizen at Glendale
The death of Lenyear [sic] Adams, which occurred Sunday night, December 22, at ten-thirty at his home in Glendale, took from that community one of its more respected residents and successful farmers, and was a source of loss to all throughout this section who knew him so long and so well. Mr. Adams, seventy-eight years of age, had been ill for many months.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, December 24, at ten o’clock from the Gum Creek church, with interment in Ebenezer cemetery. Pall bearers were O. C Brown, Avery Balkom, Len Balkom, Dewey Wilkerson, Davie Hattaway and Howard Adkison.
Lenyear Adams was born in Elba, Ala., but had lived in Walton county for more than forty years, living in DeFuniak for a time. Surviving relatives include a sister, Mrs. Taylor, of Samson, Ala.; and the following children: Andrew, of Bartow; Dr. Dallas, of Titusville; Alto, of Fort Pierce; Mrs. Perry Balcom, of Falco, Ala.; Mrs. Arthur Adkison, John Adams and Miss Agnes Adams of Glendale.
Mr. Adams in his almost half-century of life in this county, had left an imprint on the Glendale section that will not soon be effaced. He was honest, upright and charitable –in short, a good citizen.
