Lucille Sims Lawrence

Mrs. Lucille Lawrence passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on March 4, 2008.

She was born in Gaskin, Florida in 1924 and spent most of her life there except for living in Pensacola, Florida during the WWII years. She was a walking encyclopedia of Gaskin History and one of her biggest thrills was the annual Gaskin School Reunion of which she was president. Under her leadership it has been very successful and is much appreciated by all who attended the Old Gaskin School.

Her greatest love in life was her four children and the time she spent with them and they all felt the same about her. Her childrens fondest memories are the times spent with her listening to stories about the Good Old Days . She was dearly loved and will be dearly missed.

She enjoyed her days as a waitress at the old 331 Truck Stop and will be fondly remembered by the many friends she made there. She was a gracious and intelligent lady and will be deeply misssed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ella Sims, her father Charlie Sims, her husband George L. Lawrence, her brother Charlie Sims II, her sisters Jeanette Mack and Hazel Tarance and her grandson Christopher Lawrence.

She is survived by her four children; George Butch Lawrence and wife Marie of Gaskin, Florida; Bryan Rusty Lawrence and wife Mary Beth of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Delores Respress of Lake Wales, Florida; Gayle Lawrence of Gaskin, Florida; and a special family friend Lynne Bryson of Gaskin, Florida. Five grandchildren; Deanna Higgins and husband Owen, Kevin Respress and wife Amy, Keith Lawrence, Emyle Lawrence and Jason lawrence and one great-grandson, Seth Respress and numerous nephews and neices.

Visitation services will be conducted at 6:00~8:00 PM, Friday , March 7, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jimmy Mashburn officiating.

Burial will follow in the Gaskin Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers are as follows: Kenneth Pridgen, Keith Lawrence, Gary Bowers, Travis Bowers, Delmer Adams and Kevin Respress.
