Mable Ruth Harris Sheets

[Mable] Ruth Harris Sheets, 81, of Florala, AL, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006, in Florala Memorial Hospital. She was born July 21, 1925 in Broadford, VA, the daughter of William Deck and Maggie Bell Trail Harris.

She Was a homemaker and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known for being an excellent cook, specializing in Coke cakes and Seven-Up cakes, both family favorites at gatherings. Her favorite past time was her soap operas, and she knew all of the folks on “The Young & Restless” and “Guiding Light” down through the generations.

Among survivors are her children, Robert Sheets and wife, Maureen, of Okeechobee, FL, Mike Sheets and wife, Dawn, of Ft. Pierce, FL, James Keith Sheets, and wife, Karen, of Bristol, VA, and Carol Watson and husband, Doug, of Florala; her brothers, Ben and wife, Mary, Dan and wife, Mary, Graham and wife, Norma, Donald and wife, Janice, Gordon and wife, Janet, John Wesley, Paul and wife, Dorothy, and Curtis and wife, Dorothy; her sister, Christine and husband, Randal; fifteen grandchildren, James, Wayne, Kim, Toy, Andy, Deanna, Molly, Jason, Erica, Kristal, Stacey, Marlena, Tara, Machell, and Tammy; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Harris, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Sheets. Eleven great-grand children and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2006 from 6 until 8 p.m. in Jerry Evans Chapel in DeFuniak Springs. Funeral services will be Friday, December 8, 2006 at noon in Jerry Evans Chapel, with Reverend Bill Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Paxton Cemetery.
