Mary Hazel Godwin

Mrs. Hazel Godwin, age 78, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away January 26, 2008 in Pensacola, Florida. She was born June 11, 1929 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to William and Margaret Clark Rowland.

Mrs. Godwin was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs. She was Baptist by faith and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She worked in the lunchroom at the Walton Middle School for 27 years before retiring. She loved taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time with her friends, attending church, she also enjoyed growing flowers.

Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Woodrow W. Godwin.

Mrs. Godwin is survived by her son Billy Joe Godwin Sr. and wife Ellie of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; three daughters Margie Alford and husband Steelia of Darlington, Florida, Katie Barto of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Janie Foltmann and husband Ed of Jay, Florida; two sisters Helen Purvis of White City, Florida and Alene Gainey of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; 12 grandchildren Billy Joe Godwin Jr., Robert Joseph Godwin, Monica Reeves, Kim Quattlebaum, Paul Cotton, Michael Cotton, Randy Barto, Misty Barto, Mary Peters, Waylon Barley, Mariah Barley and Nichlas Foltmann; 8 great-grandchildren Blake, Krystyna, Kevyn, Colby, Travis, Courtney, Brittany and Elijah.

A time of visitation will be held at 6:00~8:00 PM, Monday, January 28, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 AM, Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Glen Spence and Owen Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Crowder Chapel Cemetery.

The grandsons will serve as pallbearers Billy Joe Godwin Jr., Robert Joseph Godwin, Paul Cotton, Randy Barto, Waylon Barley, Nicholas Foltmann, Michael Cotton and Blake Godwin.

Floral arrangements are being accepted.
