Miles Nowling, Jr.

Miles Nowling Jr., 81, passed away Feb. 1, 2006. He was born June 3, 1924 in New Home community in Walton County, FL, to Miles Nowling Sr. and Tennie Powell Nowling.

Nowling had been a life long resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Walton County. He was a veteran of WWII, serving his country in the United States Army as a corporal E-5. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in civil service at Hurlburt Field for 30 years before retiring.

Nowling was predeceased in death by his father and mother; wife, Bertice G. Nowling, and one granddaughter.

Nowling is survived by his son, Miles Gary Nowling and wife, Thelma of DeFuniak Springs, FL.; one daughter, Janice Mavelene Taylor and husband, Bruce, of Ponce de Leon, FL.; sister, Lola Richards, of Tallahassee, FL.; four grandchildren, Greg Sweeney, of Marianna, FL., Michele Laramore, of Marianna, Kyra Edwards, of Florala, AL, and Jason Gary Nowling, of DeFuniak Springs, FL.; and six great-grandchildren Kacy, Lindsey Jo, Riley, Dustyn, Darbey and Mikayla.

Funeral services were conducted, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the chapel of Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Watts officiating.

Those asked to serve as pallbearers were Bruce Taylor, Ronnie Gainey, Rusty Gainey, Larry Bell, Shon Edwards, and Raymond Ward.

Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
