Randall Gene Shumpert

Randall Gene Shumpert, 40, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006. He was born April 26, 1965 in Cottonwood, ID, the son of Donald Lee Shumpert Sr and Dixie Lee Watts Shumpert. He, like most of the popular kids in DeFuniak Springs, got his first job at the Tastee-Freeze. He was a member of Walton Senior High School’s graduating class of 1983.

He was employed with First Federal Savings and Loan until moving to Atlanta. Later he became associated with Big Ten Tires, a position he held in management for some fourteen years. Randy had a love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. His family and fishing were the two loves of his life.

Among survivors are his wife, Raquel Shumpert, of Cantonment; his parents, Donald and Dixie Shumpert, of DeFuniak Springs; his brother, Donald L. Shumpert Jr, of DeFuniak Springs; his sisters, Nancy Bryant, of Gulf Breeze, and Joy Moore, of [Valparaiso].

Memorials may be made in Randy’s memory to favorite charities. Funeral services were held Monday, January 16, 2006, in Jerry Evans Chapel with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
