Roger Gandy

Roger Gandy, 65, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Crestview, FL. He was born on Jan. 19, 1941 in Walton County to Willis Carlton Gandy and Ruby Howell Gandy.

Gandy was a life long resident of Walton County. He was Christian by faith and a member of the Alaqua United Methodist Church. He worked as a masonry contractor for over 40 years. He was a Master Mason, 32nd Degree, of the Masonic Lodge F & AM #170 of DeFuniak Springs, FL. He loved to visit and fellowship with people and he enjoyed traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis Carlton Gandy and Ruby Howell Gandy; two brothers, Clifford (Buddy) Gandy and Leon Gandy, and one sister, Lillian Brannon.

Gandy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Merle Gandy, of DeFuniak Springs, FL; two daughters, Tammy Pilcher and husband, Patrick, and Tina Smith and husband, Andrew, both of DeFuniak Springs; two brothers, Douglas Gandy and wife, Kathleen, of DeFuniak Springs and Wallace Gandy and wife, Jeanette, of Chipley, FL; six sisters, Bobbie (Chastang) Permenter, of Bay Minette, AL, Wilma Gainey, of DeFuniak Springs, Margaret Griner, of DeFuniak Springs, Willie Ray Walker and husband, Louie, of Panama City, Hilda Schwartz and husband, Fred, of DeFuniak Springs, and Marion Moore and husband, Bob, of Pensacola. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kyle Smith, Cole Pilcher, and Case Pilcher, and a host of nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 23, 2006 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Melvin officiating.

Burial followed in the Alaqua United Methodist Church Cemetery.
