Mr. Winston Mims, age 67, of Gaskin passed away April 12, 2008. He was born January 23, 1941, in Walton County, Florida, to James and Vida Wilkerson Mims.
Mr. Mims was Baptist by faith. He was a veteran of the armed forces serving his country in the United States Army. He worked with the Walton County Public Works, Road and Bridge Department District 2 before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and friends.
Mr. Mims was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Mims is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Linda Mims of Gaskin, Florida, Sherry Daimler and husband Tim of Freeport, Florida, and Candedia Mims of Oklahoma, Tammy Sunday and husband Stan, two brothers Duford Shelp Mims of Opp, Alabama, and Bill Mims of Gaskin, Florida, five sisters Alma Jean Ashfoor of Chicago, Illinois, Wystell Morris of Mossy Head, Florida, Sue Dukes of Glendale, Florida, Joan Schofield of Pensacola, Florida and Joyce Phillips of Lockhart, Alabama, four grandchildren.
Visitation services will be conducted at 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Tucker Aplin officiating.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Coy Stafford, Wayne Smith, Ted Pryor, Terry Adkinson, Fred Gillman and Michael Moore. Honorary pallbearer will be Kenneth Pridgen.
Burial will follow in the Gaskin Cemetery. Floral arrangements are being accepted.
