Bernie Lee McHugh

Bernie Lee McHugh Jr., 75, passed away Oct. 21, 2006 in Destin, FL. He was born November 12, 1930 in Bessemer, AL to Bernie and Mary Sullivan McHugh.

McHugh had been a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, FL for the past 16 years. He was Methodist by faith and a member of the Point Washington United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from the University of Auburn, with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. He worked as a Superintendent with SMI in Birmingham, AL for over 30 years. He was a member of the Mason Lodge F &AM in Birmingham, AL. He was an avid fan of Auburn football, NASCAR, and he loved playing and spending time with his grandson. He also loved golf, fishing and boating.

McHugh was predeceased in death by his father and mother.

McHugh is survived by his wife, Nancy McHugh, of Santa Rosa Beach; two daughters, Cindy Rogers and husband, Rick, of Birmingham, and Kasey Cuchens and husband, Rosier, of Freeport, FL, and one grandson, Jake Rogers.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 23, . 2006, at Point Washington United Methodist Church with Rev. Tonya Elmore officiating.

Donations may be sent to Point Washington United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1290 N. Hwy. 395, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.

Burial was in the Gulf Cemetery.
