Mrs. Brenda Mitchem, age 52, of Ponce De Leon, Florida passed away October 30, 2007 peacefully at her residence. She was born November 6, 1954 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Billy J. and Wilfred Ward Locke.
Brenda was a resident of Ponce De Leon, Florida; she was Holiness by faith and a member of the Macedonia Holiness Church. She worked as a Cosmotologist for over 30 years. Brenda sang with the Trinity Gospel Singers, which formed into, The Anchor Holds Gospel Group. She was known as a loving person always willing to lend a helping hand.
Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ida and Henry E. Ward and Charlie and Annie Lee Locke.
Brenda is survived by her father and mother, Billy J. and Wilfred Locke, her loving husband Arthur “Spur” Mitchem of 38 years; one son, Jerry Wayne Mitchem and wife Sabrina, one daughter, Tina Webster and husband Michael, all of Ponce De Leon, Florida; two brothers, Billy Locke and wife Vicki of Reynolds Hill, Florida and Bobby J. Locke and wife Jacquiline of Virginia; and one sister, Kisha Murphy and husband Todd of Pensacola, Florida. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Kennie Mitchem, Torilyn Webster, Ariel Mitchem, Terry Mitchem, Chelsey Dean, Philip Webster, Chambleigh Webster and Brandy Mitchem.
A time of visitation will be held at 6:00~8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home with Reverends Kenny Montgomery and Royce Montgomery officiating. Floral arrangements are being accepted. Burial will follow in the New Ponce De Leon Cemetery.
