Burler Louvester Alford Mitchem Collinsworth

Mrs. Burler Collinsworth, age 97, of DeFuniak Springs passed away February 8, 2008. She was born November 26, 1910 in Darlington, Florida to Charlie and Sidney Catherine Alford.

Mrs. Collinsworth had been a lifelong resident of Darlington. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints DeFuniak Springs Ward. She worked as a cook in the lunchroom cafeteria at Darlington School for several years, also at Northwest Airlines in Alaska as Food Service Coordinator and at the shirt factory in Florala, Alabama. She enjoyed singing at gospel sings. She was converted through gospel music, and she sang at funerals for years, she was a Sunday school teacher for 35 years. Family and her friends were most important to her.

Mrs. Collinsworth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arvin Mitchem, second husband Fred Collinsworth, four brothers Millage Alford, Clayton Alford, Cecil Alford and Walon Alford; two sisters Nettie Tomlin and Bernice Allen, one son Charlie Union Mitchem and grandson Kenneth Wendell Mitchem.

Mrs. Collinsworth is survived by her three sons Carl Thomas Mitchem and wife Wynell of New Harmony, Jeremiah Lewis Mitchem and wife Juanita of Darlington, and Wendell Arvin Mitchem and wife Debrah Kay of Darlington; one daughter Ella Catherine Smith and husband R.D. of Darlington; one daughter-in-law Bernice Mae Mitchem of Darlington; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation services will be conducted at 6:00~8:00 PM, Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Gene Reeves officiating.

Burial will follow in the Limestone Cemetery. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to your favorite charity.
