Calvin C. Floyd

Calvin C. Floyd, 68, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Malcom Randall V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, FL.

Floyd was born June 2, 1938 in Walton County, FL, the son of William Randolph Floyd and Jean Cassidy Floyd. He served in the U.S. Army and was a heavy equipment operator. He was president of Floyd Brothers Asphalt Co. from 1966 until his retirement in 1988, and owned K&W Enterprises. He was a member of Orion Lodge #8 F.&A.M., Hasan Shrine Temple, and Bainbridge Shrine Club.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Stegall Floyd, of Bainbridge; three daughters, Caryn F. Sams and husband, Ronnie, of Bainbridge, Cathryn F. Meighan and husband, Frank, of Eatonton, GA, and Chan F. Strickland and husband, Victor, of Brinson, GA; his mother, Jean Cassidy Floyd, of Brinson; a son-in-law, Keith Childree, of Bainbridge; a brother, J.W. “Shorty” Floyd, of Bainbridge; four sisters, Faye Watson, of Headland, AL, Ina Floyd, of Brinson, Opal Howell, of Tallahassee, FL, and Jennifer Skinner, of Tallahassee; seven grandchildren, Kevin Childree, William Childree, Asilynne Strickland, Jacob Meighan, Brittany Heard, Paige Meighan, and Kyle Heard.

Rev. Ron Kirkland officiated, with pallbearers, Bob Newsom, Casey Pate, Waylon Smith, Leo McAnelly, Eddie Jackson, and Roy McAnelly.

Honorary pallbearers were Faris “Punch” Farmer, Paul Jackson, Roger Holley, Tommy Holley, Ronald Sams, Ed Deal, Charlie Rathel, Bob Immendorf, and Earl McCombs.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge, GA, with interment following at Calvary Assembly of God Church near Brinson, GA.
