Mr. Carl Wayne Cosson, age 74, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away August 14, 2008. He was born May 21, 1934 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Walter and Julia Anderson Cosson.
Mr. Cosson had been a resident of Walton County. He was a Mormon by faith and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era serving his country in the United States Air Force with over 22 years of service before retiring as a Tech Sergeant. He was a lifetime member of the AmVets Post # 178 in DeFuniak Springs and also a member of the VFW Post # 4437. He worked for the State of Texas as a Maintenance Supervisor for over 15 years. He was an avid turkey hunter, and deer hunter. He was a talented craftsman having carved many turkey calls and musical instruments.
Mr. Cosson was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wilbur and Wallace Cosson and one son Carlton David Cosson.
Mr. Cosson is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Evelyn of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, one son Paul and wife Sherry of Summerset, Kentucky, one daughter Anita of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, three brothers Jeff and wife Helen and Lewis and wife Paula all of Salt Lake City, Utah and Billy Joe and wife Lindi of Portland, Oregon, four sisters Faye Gilbert of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lenora Van Dyke and husband Karl of Salt Lake City, Utah, Louise Byram of Chipley, Florida, and Jewel Hughes of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, one sister-in-law Marge Cosson of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, five grandchildren Cara, Michael, Keri, Allison and Ethan, three great-grandchildren Ian, Andrew and Jayci, also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, August 18, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Reeves officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Aaron and Dustin Cosson, Derek and Brian Mitchem, Bruce and Jim Cosson.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, with full Military Honors at graveside. Walton Beach, Florida 32547 or to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 293 Little Creek Trail, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433.
