Mrs. Estelle Simpler, age 91, of Gaskin passed away April 9, 2008. She was born September 14, 1916, in Econfina Creek, Florida, to Bascom B. and Minnie B. Alberson. Mrs. Simpler had been a lifelong resident of Gaskin, Florida. She was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gaskin. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Simpler was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years Collis S. Simpler, two sons Wendell Simpler of Gaskin, Florida and Billy M. Simpler of Crestview, Florida, and a grandson Keith Sanders Simpler of Panama City, Florida.
Mrs. Simpler is survived by her one son Donald R. Simpler and wife Alice of Panama City, Florida, daughter-in-law Jimmie Sue Simpler of Crestview, Florida, three grandsons Derrick Simpler and wife Phylis of Auburn, Alabama, Darrell Simpler and wife Angie of FT. Walton Beach, Florida and Tracy Sanders Simpler and wife Amy of Panama City, Florida, three granddaughters Darlene Soles and husband Ray of Crestview, Florida, Donna K. Simpler of Crestview, Florida, and Maria Marsh and husband Ray pf Panama City, Florida, fifteen great-grandchildren Brian Simpler, Hunter Simpler, Lindsay Simpler, Marissa Brick, Whitney Brick, Brandon Simpler, April Jolly and husband Blake, LCpl. Jairit Sanders of US Marines of New River, North Carolina, Serena Sanders, Jacob Sanders, Zachary Sanders Tyler Marsh, Dylan Marsh, Jordan Sanders and Olivia Sanders, one great-great-granddaughter Alexis Grace Jolly, also survived by numerous and nieces and nephews.
Visitation services will be conducted at 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, April 11, 2008, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Gaskin First Baptist Church, with Reverend Tucker Aplin officiating. Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Joe Alberson, Austin Henderson, Ray Marsh, Willard Beck, Carlis Simpler and W.F. Miles. Honorary pallbearers are Lawton Mathews, Bobby Alberson, Eddie Alberson, Jerome Henderson, Charles Henderson and Jason Beck. Burial will follow in the Gaskin Cemetery.
