Eva Wood Weeks

Eva Wood Weeks passed away January 25, 2006, in Enterprise, AL. She was 94. Funeral services were held Friday, January 27, 2006, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson, AL, with minister Greg Dixon officiating. Burial followed in Reese Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.

Mrs. Weeks was born May 18, 1911 in Dale County, AL, to the late Edward (Uncle Ed) and Martha Susan (Aunt Sudie) Zorn Wood. She was a life long resident of the Reese community in Geneva County. There she was raised, married Taft Weeks and raised her children. She received her education at Reese School. She remained in the Reese community until ill health made it impossible for her to live alone. She became a resident of the Enterprise Nursing Home. She loved her garden, family and friends. She was a member of the Gaskin Church of Christ.

Mrs. Weeks provided for her children by working in the fields along side the men and later took up sewing. She began working for Franklin Ferguson in Florala until a broken arm forced her retirement at the age of 71.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Will Ed; grandson, John; daughter-in-law, Barbara; brothers, Ben, Dock, Lonnie, Leonard, and Ed B. Wood.

Among survivors are her children, Wayne and Helen Weeks, of Geneva, Phillip and Mary Weeks of Coffee Springs, AL, Farren and Diann Weeks, and Sue and Randel Simmons, of DeFuniak Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Cynthia Dixon, Sandra Robinson, Dana Ard, John Weeks, Farran Weeks, and Amanda Nelson; sisters, Lois and husband, Alfred Marshall, and Vera Perdue; sister-in-law, Willie C. Wood; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
