Gladys M. Edwards, 83, of DeFuniak Springs, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, Feb. 23, 2006 at Healthmark Regional Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1922 in Coffee County, AL.
Edwards had lived most of her life in DeFuniak Springs. She attended the Community Holiness Church.
Edwards was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Edwards, and step-children, Kenneth Edwards and Larry Edwards.
Edwards is survived by her four sons, Joseph Bird and wife, Linda, of Pennsylvania, James Bird and wife, Wanda, of Freeport, Danny Bird, of Ponce de Leon and Rev. Ira Bird and wife, Janice of DeFuniak Springs; six step-children, two daughters, Linda Nelson and Cathy Willouby, of DeFuniak Springs; four step-sons, Donald, Earl, Danny and Gary Edwards, of DeFuniak Springs; sister, Raynell Lane, of Columbia, AL; and one brother, Fred Wambles, of Niceville. She was loved dearly by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Feb, 26, 2006, at Community Holiness Church: 971 West Live Oak Ave., with Rev. Howard Taylor and Rev. Ira Bird officiating.
Pallbearers were the grandchildren.
Burial followed in the Alaqua Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family sends sincere thanks to the wonderful nurses at Healthmark Regional Hospital and Chautauqua Rehab and Nursing Center that took great care of our loved one. Jackie you are great.
