Hattie Nick

Mrs. Hattie Nick, widow of the late Frank Nick, passed away Monday, February 27, 2006 in a Niceville healthcare facility. She was born July 29, 1918 in Sweetwater, AL, the daughter of Ellis James Luker and Mary Bethany Luker. Mrs. Nick and her late husband founded Nick’s Seafood Restaurant in Basin Bayou in 1963 which since has become a landmark in Northwest Florida. She and her late husband were married fifty-four years.

Among survivors are her son, Frank Nick, Jr. and wife Bonnie, of Freeport; daughter Constance N. Jones and husband, Wayne, of Freeport; grandsons, Frank (Trey) Nick III and wife, Jennifer, and Charles Carey Nick and wife, Tracy; granddaughter, Rachael Lauren Jones; great-grandchild, Aubree Tice Nick; sisters, Mildren Milam of Mobile, Mae Stanley of Saraland, Mary Ann Nick of Montgomery and Bulah Fay Phillips of Thomasville; brothers, Paul Luker, Richard Luker and Hugh Luker, all of Thomasville.

A time of visitation will be Wednesday, March 1, 2006 from 6 until 8 p.m. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Portland United Methodist Church with Reverend Doug Newton, assisted by Reverend Mary Beth Cloyd, officiating. Burial will follow in Hatcher Cemetery.
