Herbert Lloyd Singletary

Herbert Lloyd Singletary, 80, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away Aug. 27, 2006, in DeFuniak Springs. He was born April 6, 1926 in Walton County, to Herbert and Mary Gillis Singletary.

Singletary had been a life-long resident of DeFuniak Springs. He was Holiness by faith. He worked in food service at Eglin Air Force Base for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and he was an avid outdoorsman.

Singletary was predeceased by his father and mother; wife, Jettie Singletary; daughter, Gwendolyn Faye Rushing; brother, Clyde Singletary, and sister, Juanita Mason.

Singletary is survived by his two sons, James Willard Singletary and wife, Jennifer, and Olen Singletary and wife, Linda, all of DeFuniak Springs; one son-in-law, Edgar Rushing, and special niece, Sandra Castleberry, both of Ponce de Leon; one sister, Evelyn Hart, of Ft. Myers, FL, and six grandchildren, James Lloyd Singletary and wife, Julia, John Singletary and wife, Christy, Jason Singletary and wife, Chrissie, Allen Singletary, Michael Singletary and wife, Misty, and Eric Rushing. He is also survived by 11 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at First Assembly of God Church, in DeFuniak Springs, with Reverends Adam Peterson and Richards Cary officiating.

Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery.
