Herchel Cantrel Anderson

Mr. Herchel Cantrel Anderson, Jr., age, 45 manager of the DeFuniak Springs Country Club, died as a result of a boating accident while hunting in the Choctawhatchee Bay area, Monday evening, November [30], 1964. A native of Hastings, Fla., he had resided in the DeFuniak Springs area since 1954. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Freeport Methodist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon from the Comander Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Magnolia [Cemetery].

Honorary pallbearers were Charles King, Phil Harris, Jimmy McCall, Baker Carwell, C. H. McGee, Landrum Cawthon, Howard Anderson, C. J. Roehm, Francis Merrifield and Sonny Harbeson.

Active pallbearers were Cortez Cadenhead, Merdock Belser, Kylea Wooten, and Otis Brown.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rachel G. Anderson, [DeFuniak] Springs: two sons, Andy Anderson, with the USAF in Hawaii, Tony Anderson, DeFuniak Springs, and one daughter, Mrs. Gary Griffith of Montgomery, Ala.

Also surviving are his parents: Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Rentz of Valdosta, Ga. There are three grandchildren.
