John Commodore Stroup

Mr. John Commodore Stroup, age 81, of Freeport passed away Sunday, September 9, 2007 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia to John Stroup Jr and Mary Lewis Stroup.

Mr. Stroup was a resident of Freeport. He worked as a Licensed Plumber and Electrician. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed talking about the old days.

Mr. Stroup was preceded in death by his father and mother and wife Magedalene Stroup.

Mr. Stroup is survived by his three daughters Judy L. Wardorp of Marietta, Georgia, Donna L. Edwards of Freeport, Florida and Johnnie H. Crain and husband George of Freeport, Florida; one sister Doris Johnson of Blacksburg, South Carolina; eleven grandchildren Richie Mauldin, Anna Altman and husband Kent, David Mauldin, Natayia Via and husband Johnny, Kristie Mauldin and Cletus, Jonathan Saylor and wife Cynthia Hall, David Hamrick and wife Melissa, Matthew Mauldin, Stella Justice, Mariah Bell and Joseph Justice and Angela Ward; also survived by thirty-two great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held 6:00~8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; 150 East Highway 20 Freeport, Florida 32439. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 12 , 2007 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home in Freeport, Florida with Reverend Louis Taunton officiating. Floral arrangements are being accepted. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.
