Mrs. Leila Jeanette Cole, 77, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away Feb. 9, 2007, at Healthmark Regional Medical Center in DeFuniak Springs. She was born June 17, 1929, in Harold, KY, to Adrian and Lurlie Martin Perry.
Cole had been a resident of DeFuniak Springs for the past two years. She was Baptist by faith. She worked as an elementary school teacher in her early years, and was a very educated lady. She married Virgil “Red” Cole in 1948, and was married 58 years. She enjoyed taking care of her family and took great pride in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was affectionately known as “G”.
Cole was predeceased by her father and mother and one sister, Raye Kargo.
Cole is survived by her husband, Virgil “Red” Cole of DeFuniak Springs; two sons, Terry Douglas Cole and wife, Joanie, of Michigan, and Gary Steven Cole and wife, Julie Ann, of DeFuniak Springs; two daughters, Susan Lee Casto and husband, Gary, of Michigan and Janet Lynn Thibert of Michigan; one brother, Oliver Salsbury and wife, Velma, of Tampa, FL; one sister, Violet Hunter and husband, Bob, of Atlanta, GA, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Rev. Joel Glenn officiating.
Burial followed in the Cluster Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
