Mrs. Lovie Slay, age 81, a resident of Route 2, Ponce de Leon, died Sunday [April 18, 1971] in a nearby hospital. She was a native of Walton County, and a member of the Holiness Church.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Leland Adams officiating. Interment followed in the Magnolia Cemetery, with [Comander] Funeral Home directing.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ida Carroll, Ponce de Leon, Mrs. Annie Littlefield, DeFuniak Springs, and Mrs. Mary Snellgrove, Ozark, Alabama; eight sons, J. A. Slay, Indiantown, Florida, Floyd Slay, Darrie Slay, and Albert Slay, all of DeFuniak Springs, Millard Slay, Lester Earl Slay, Eugene Slay, and Odie Slay, all of Ponce de Leon; a brother, Lee McLendon, DeFuniak Springs, and three sisters, Mrs. Lula Pruse, Mrs. Addie Phillips, and Mrs. Sadie Phillips, all of Berrydale, Florida, 45 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
