Mildred Ann Redmond, 86, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away on April 21, 2006 in Crestview, FL. She was born on June 29, 1920, in Rotterdam, New York to Samuel J. Van Patten and Sarah Swatling Van Patten.
Redmond had been a resident of DeFuniak Springs since 1976 moving from New York. She was Episcopal by faith and a member of St. Agatha’s Episcopal Church in DeFuniak Springs. She loved to sew and make crafts. She enjoyed serving in several civic groups, the AARP, the Women’s Club and the Home Extension Club among others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and raising her children.
Redmond is preceded in death by her father and mother, Samuel J. and Sarah Swatling Van Patten, her husband, Leo Redmond. Sr., and one grandson, Dennis Redmond.
Redmond is survived by one son, Leo Redmond Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Freehold, NJ; two [daughters], Susan Straley and husband, John, of Hackettstown, NJ and Diane Carmichael and husband, Robert, of Musselburgh, Scotland; two sisters, Sarah Wilson of Schenectady, NY and Margaret Zubal of Edinburg, NY. Redmond is also survived by eight grandchildren, Alison Bonner and husband, Jeffery, Michael Redmond and wife, Lauren, Richard Kusevich, Lisa Kusevich, Robert Kusevich, Thomas Kusevich and wife, Kristine, Valerie Kusevich, and Douglas Nally, and six great-grandchildren, Daymon Kusevich, Amanda Kusevich, Keith Casella, Jeffery Bonner Jr., Dennis Bonner, and Joshua Bonner.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2006 at St. Agatha’s Episcopal Church, 144 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435, with Father Ashmond Brown officiating.
Donations can be made to St. Agatha’s Episcopal Church.
Memorialization was by cremation.
