Perry Thomas Nolin

Perry Thomas “Tom” Nolin, 93, of Walton County, FL passed away on Feb. 25, 2007 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was born on Oct. 27, 1913 in Walton County to his father and mother, Mr. Fair Thomas Nolin, and Mrs. [Anna] Scott Nolin.

Nolin was a resident of Walton County for the past 26 years, he was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. He was a deacon and a faithful church member. He graduated from Walton High School and received his masters degree from the University of Florida. He and his wife both worked diligently, assisting one another to achieve their masters degrees.

He worked as an educator for the Bradford County School System for over 30 years. He served as principal at New Harmony and Mill Creek in St. Augustine and Starke Elementary Schools. He enjoyed writing and working on the “family tree,” eating out while visiting with friends and traveling, having traveled from Alaska to the Panama Canal.

Nolin was preceded in death by both his father and mother; four brothers, Dennis Nolin, John (Dock) Nolin, Lee Nolin and Grey Nolin; five sisters, Emmie Peters, Rossette Burgess, Harriet Ward, Eddie Spann, and Alice Spann.

Nolin is survived by his wife Tommie Lee (Cotton) Nolin of 69 years of DeFuniak Springs; one son, Doug Nolin and wife, Shirley, of the Oak Grove community; two grandsons, Ross and Reed Nolin, and one great-grandson, Zachery Nolin.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church and Revs. Jerry Chumley, and Dan Padgett officiang and music provided by Bill Ray Cotton, and Brooks Davis.

Burial followed in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
