Robert Donald Bond, 89, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away Jan. 31, 2007 in Milton, FL. He was born Sept. 1, 1917 in Lumberton, MS to Elijah and Eliza Bond.
Bond had been a resident of DeFuniak Springs for the past 38 years. He was Baptist by faith. He was a veteran of WWII, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam Era serving his country in the U. S. Air Force for over 30 years of service before retiring. He as well known for his work with the Walton County School System and he was recognized as (W.G.) Walton Guard. He was loved and admired for his years of service in assisting the Walton County Sheriff’s Department and DeFuniak Springs Police Department.
Bond was predeceased by his father and mother, his wife, Irene Bond, and one brother, Ezra Bond.
Bond is survived by his son, Dan Bond, of Maryland; two daughters, Paula Cosson, of Utah and Carol Bond, of California; one brother, E.J. Bond of Mississippi; one sister, Rita Bennet of Mississippi, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 3, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors at graveside.
