Thomas Andrews, age 71, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away Aug. 4, 2008. He was born on Aug. 8, 1936, in DeFuniak Springs to Thomas and Iris Williams Andrews.
Mr. Andrews was a resident of DeFuniak Springs. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He also worked with the United States Government in the Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer for over 35 years, before retiring. He loved to travel and he was an avid college football fan, especially the Florida Gators. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Martha Sue Wilkinson.
Mr. Andrews is survived by his mother, Iris Andrews of DeFuniak Springs; one son, Thomas F. Andrews and wife Patricia of Walkersville, Md.; one daughter, Franziska E. Andrews Cook and husband David of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Ralph C. Andrews and wife Marian of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one sister, Harriet Parish and husband Jeff of Andalusia, Ala.; and three grandchildren, John Thomas Andrews, Thomas James Andrews and Alexis Jane Andrews.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Chumley officiating.
Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with military honors.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
