Tom Garner

Reverend Tom Garner, age 84, of Ponce De Leon, Florida went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2008 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born April 29, 1923 in Ponce De Leon, Florida to Allen and Nettie Spence Garner.

Reverend Garner was a resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Ponce De Leon. He worked as an electrician with Civil Service at Tyndall Air Force Base for 14 years. He also served as Pastor of Knox Hill Baptist Church for several years. He also served as a Supply Pastor at numerous churches for over 20 years in Walton County.

Reverend Garner was preceded in death by his father and mother, wife June V. Garner of 54 years, one brother Willard Garner and two sisters Vera Mae Rushing and Mary Nell Garner.

Reverend Garner is survived by his four sons Robert Wyndell Garner of Maine, Tom E. Garner Jr. and wife Juanita of DeFuniak Springs, Florida , Richard Garner and wife Joan and Billy McCombs and wife Cindy all of Ponce De Leon, Florida; five daughters Pamela Jean Sherdian of Michigan, Vera Lee Kilefner and husband John of Ponce De Leon, Florida, Bonita Darlene Odom and husband Allen of South Port, Florida, Lynette McDonald and husband Wayne of Red Bay, Florida and Linda McCombs of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held at 6:00~8:00 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 15, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Larry McGowan and Gregory Hammock officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ponce De Leon Cemetery.

Those asked to serve as pallbearers are the grandsons Brandon Nixon, Tommy Nixon, Robby Nixon, Douglas Nixon, Steven Garner and Brian McDonald.

Floral arrangements are being accepted.
