Truett W. Senterfitt, Sr

Truett W. Senterfitt Sr., 85, passed away on Aug. 4, 2006. He was born Dec. 16, 1920, in DeFuniak Springs, FL, to James Henry Senterfitt, and Cora Hutto Senterfitt. He was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the US Navy Seabees, having spent 28 months in the South Pacific. He was a member of the DeFuniak Springs, Florida Masonic Lodge, F & AM Lodge #170 for over 55 years, and also a member of the local VFW Post 4437 for over 50 years.

Senterfitt was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Clarence L. Senterfitt and Bulon Z. Senterfitt, and sister, Tula Senterfitt Collier.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Cawthon Senterfitt, of 63 years, of DeFuniak Springs; one son, Truett W. Senterfitt, Jr. and wife, Virginia, of Freeport, FL; two daughters, Martha L. Sentierfitt Smail and husband, Sam, of Lawrenceville, GA, and Laurice Jane Senterfitt Peters and husband, Clell, of San Antonio, TX; one bother James of Live Oak, FL, five grandchildren, Truett W. Senterfitt, III (Trey) and wife, Linda, Rebecca Smail, Sarah Smail, Julien Peters, and Janelle Peters; two great-grandchildren, Truett W. Senterfitt, IV (Trevor) and Hunter Kaiser Senterfitt.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Rev. Joel Glenn officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Liberty, 6775 US Hwy. 331-N, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433.

Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery.
