Viola Mae Slay Yaun

Mrs. Viola M. Yaun, age 84, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away June 7, 2008, at her home with her family by her side. She was born September 17, 1923, in Walton County, Florida, to William Carl and Alice Rutherford Slay.

Mrs. Yaun was a lifelong resident of Walton County, Florida. She was Presbyterian by faith and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She worked as a Secretary and Teller at First National Bank for 17 years, and she also worked as a Mail Carrier for 14 years before retiring. Mrs. Yaun was a very talented China Painter having painted many China Pieces. She also was a very talented Seamstress.

Mrs. Yaun was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, William Carl and Alice Rutherford Slay, her first husband, Clyde Moretz, one brother and sister-in-law, Walter Melvin Slay and his wife Ethelene Slay and one nephew, Carl Slay.

Mrs. Yaun is survived by her husband, Roland Yaun of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, two step-sons, Cleve Yaun and wife Linda of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Tommy Yaun and wife JoAnn of Orlando, Florida one daughter, Helen Moretz Young of Hawaii and one step-daughter, Clyde Marie Cronin and husband Bob of Old Town, Florida. She is also survived by one grandson, Mark Young, one great-grandaughter Amelia Young, two step-grandchildren, Bryan Yaun and Randy Yaun and wife Laura all of West Palm Beach, Florida, two step-great grandchildren, Kristen Yaun and Matthew Yaun and three nieces, Carol Williams and husband Elmer and family, Clara Smith and husband Jr. and family, Linda Campbell and husband Dewitt and family one nephew, Joe Slay and the Carl Slay family.

Visitation services will be conducted at 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, June 9, 2008, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Avenue; DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at The Garden Pavilion at Magnolia with Reverend Lonnie Forehand officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot at Magnolia cemetery.
