Mrs. Waudine “Punk” Ward, 79, of Red Bay, FL, passed away Feb. 4, 2007 in Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1927 in Red Bay, to Willie and Addie McDonald Rushing.
Ward was a native of Red Bay, she was Methodist by faith and a member of Red Bay Methodist Church, and a graduate of Florida State Nursing School in Chattahoochee. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Walton County Hospital, she was the first Registered Nurse at the hospital, worked as a nurse for Dr. Roehms for many years, she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Chipley Hospital. She served as a nurse for over 45 years.
Ward was predeceased by her father and mother, son, Gary Ward, and sister, Merelene Gomillion.
Ward is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arad “Stanley” Ward of Red Bay; three sons, Randy Ward, of Mary Esther, FL, Arad Ward of FT. Walton Beach, FL, Mark Ward, of Red Bay; one brother, Donald Rushing of Tampa, FL; and sister, Ann Padgett of Panama City, FL; four grandchildren Randall, Jennifer, Daine and Joseph, and one great-grandchild, Tobias.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Red Bay Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Claude Tucker, Tom Tidwell and Henry Martin officiating.
Pallbearers were Wayne Miller, Donnie Miller, Arthur Gomillion, Sonny Thorn, Wayne McDonald, Roger McDonald, Ronnie Vaughn and Derek Vaugn.
Burial followed in Red Bay Cemetery.
