William Roger Nelson

Mr. William Roger Nelson, age 61, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away December 19, 2007 at the Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with his family at his side. He was born July 9, 1946 in Walton County, FL to Dalton & Ila Mae Infinger Nelson.

Roger was a resident of DeFuniak Springs and Baptist by faith. He was a Logger and a Dump Truck Driver with Chad Gillis Trucking for several years. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Roger was preceded in death by his father and mother, two brothers, Montie and Ronnie Nelson and two sisters, Odessa and Edna Nelson.

Roger is survived by one son, Clifford Nelson of Ponce De Leon, FL; two daughters, Alicia Cook and husband Ted of Cedar Springs, GA and Kimberly Nelson and fiance Ebin Cosson, three brothers, Dudley Nelson, Lou Nelson and wife Jeanette and Randy Nelson all of DeFuniak Springs, FL and eight sisters, Hattie Curry and husband George of Ponce De Leon, Florida; Elaine Taylor and husband Dean of Millington, TN; Effie Hall and husband David of DeFuniak Springs, FL; Dianne Hall of DeFuniak Springs, FL; Doris Ammons and husband Bobby of Ponce De Leon, FL; Charlene Crew and husband John of DeFuniak Springs, FL; Linda Dion of Fargo, GA and Crystal Ard and husband James of Robertsdale, AL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Brandon Hewett, Derek Nelson, James Nelson, Dylon Nelson, Morgan Cosson, Austin Cordle, Ebin Cosson, Jr., Grace Nelson and Audrey Nelson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held at 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, December 21, 2007 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Reverends James Burnham, Owen Smith and Dr. James Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Those asked to serve as pallbearers are as follows: David Nelson, Jr., Wayne Nelson, Jimmy Hall, Christopher Ammons, Chad Gillis and Donnie Bengston. Those serving as Honorary pallbearers are: Brian Ammons, Tommy Cook, Joe Nelson and Tracy Cosson.
