Mrs. Helen Adkinson, age 77, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away December 21, 2007 at her residence with her family at her side. She was born December 6, 1930 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to John and A.V. Adkison McMillian.
Mrs. Adkinson was Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She worked as a cook. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and taking care of her family.
Mrs. Adkinson was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband Willis G. Adkinson, one son Gary Adkinson, two brothers Thelton McMillian and an infant brother.
Mrs. Adkinson is survived by her son Craig L. Adkinson of Destin, Florida, two daughters Shirley Drake and husband William and Sheila Garland all of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; six brothers Quinn McMillian and wife Becky of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Carvel McMillian of Tallahassee, Florida, Phil McMillian of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Wendell McMillian of Tallahassee, Florida, Bobby McMillian and wife JoAnne of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and LyVonne McMillian and wife Judy of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; three sisters Hattie Chapman of Mobile, Alabama, Betty Clauss and husband Bud of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Sandra Harper of Tallahassee, Florida; known as Maw Maw to her 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren Brandon Garland and wife Nora, Mitch Adkinson, Heath Adkinson, Holly Garland and Belinda Barto and husband Randy; three great-grandchildren Angel, Brittany and Courtney. She was the life of her family and in our hearts forever she will be missed.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with Reverends Phil McMillian and Owen Smith officiating.
