Mary Smith Bowers

Mary Smith Bowers, 86, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away Dec. 12, 2006. She was born Aug. 20, 1920 in Coffee County, AL to Monroe and Dannie Henderson Smith.

Mrs. Bowers had been a resident of Walton County for the past 53 years. She enjoyed taking care of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. She was a very talented cook and enjoyed cooking for her family.

Mrs. Bowers was predeceased by her father and mother; her husband, Lamar Bowers; two sisters, Verlan Parker and Francis Dannelly, and grandson, Christopher Lawrence.

Mrs. Bowers is survived by her son, Travis Bowers and wife, Gwendolyn, of Destin, FL; three daughters, Josephine Poole , and husband, Johnny, of Atlanta, GA, Vivian Padgett of DeFuniak Springs, and Joy Tarlton and husband, Bob, of DeFuniak Springs; one brother, Monroe Smith, Jr., of DeFuniak Springs; two sisters, Louise Gavin of DeFuniak Springs and Ruth Lewandowski of Freeport; grandchildren, Terri Mason, Kent Padgett, Lisa Bateman, Cindy Gurley, Gary Bowers, Tonya Lightner, Keith Lawrence, and Bridgette Dennis; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, Ethan, Audrey, David, Dusty, Emily, Robby, Brittany, Kelsey, Erica, Victoria, Brett, and Savannah, and great-great grandchild, Robby.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Watts officiating.

Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery.
