Ruby M. Eddy

Ruby Eddy, 83, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2006, at her residence. She was born October 9, 1922 in Decatur, AL, the daughter of Walter Granville Best and Ethel Mae Walker Best.

She was a singer, musician throughout her 51 years as a minister’s wife to Rev. William B. Eddy from the Church of God with headquarters in Anderson, Indiana. Ruby served in each local congregation that they pastored as well as served on the national level of the church. For 10 years, she also served on the WCG National Board as a member of the National Missionary Education Committee and six of those years, she served as chairperson of the committee. She also directed the International Choir during the Anderson International Convention’s evening worship service on Missions Day in Anderson, Indiana.

Among survivors are her sons, Jerry Eddy and wife, Julie, of Dayton, OH, Joe Eddy, of DeFuniak Springs; her daughter, Diane Eddy Huggins and husband, Jack, of DeFuniak Springs; her grandchildren, Jack E. Huggins Jr., of Destin, Tammy Manns and husband, Carl, of Pittsburgh, PA, Gay Wolff and husband, Kurtis, of Cummings, GA, Jimmy Burgess and wife, Tasha, and Jason Burgess and wife, Alicia of DeFuniak Springs. Ten great-grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Burgess, Jason Burgess, Nick Anderson, Carl Manns, Jack E. Huggins Jr., and Kurtis Wolff.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 21, 2006 in First Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Chumley officiating. Burial followed. in Magnolia Cemetery.
