James Saul Melvin

James Saul Melvin, 62, of Freeport, died Saturday at a DeFuniak Springs hospital after a long illness.

He was a native of Ponce de Leon but had resided in Freeport the last 60 years.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Freeport with the Rev. W. L. Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Hatcher Cemetery in Freeport with Comander Funeral Home of Freeport directing.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Bessie Melvin of Freeport; three sons, Ned Melvin of Tampa, Fred Melvin of the U. S. Army at Ft. Polk, La., and Grady Melvin of the U. S. Navy, Jacksonville; a daughter, Mrs. Bill Caswell of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, H. P. Melvin of Freeport and Warren Melvin of Panama City; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Morris and Mrs. Annie Blankenship, both of Panama City and Mrs. Minnie Gay of Freeport; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
