Raymond Banks, 63, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005. He was born Sept. 19, 1942 in Cuthbert, GA, to Ralph and Katherine Lowndes Banks.
Banks was a resident of DeFuniak Springs for the past eight years moving from Crestview, FL. He was Methodist by faith. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 240 in Pensacola, FL. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post # 35 in Crestview, FL. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country in the United States Air Force as a tech sergeant, with over 20 years of service. He enjoyed singing and was a very talented singer, having performed in a professional band. He also performed drama and dancing.
Banks was predeceased by his father and mother.
Banks is survived by his wife, Amy Pennington Banks, of DeFuniak Springs; three sons, Sammy and wife, Anne, of DeFuniak Springs, Tom and wife, Rebekah, of Arvada, CO, and Ben, of Florala, AL; daughter, Jennie Sue, of Panama City Beach, FL ; two brothers, Bill Banks, of New York and Mike Banks, of Georgia; sister, Cheryl, of Alabama; one very special sister-in-law, Mary Campbell, of Pace, FL; also survived by six grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous friends.
